Our practice nurse has an appointment system for consultations. She also runs weekly Asthma/Diabetic/Cervical Smear clinics. She will support those who are trying to develop a healthy lifestyle and give advice regarding weight and exercise. The surgery also runs a weekly INR clinic for patients taking Warfarin medication and a travel clinic.

The receptionists are usually your first point of contact with the surgery. They will try to meet all of your requirements. Due to COVID 19 regulations and in order to judge the urgency of your request for GP telephone triage the staff will need you to answer a few questions. It is important that you inform the reception staff of any change of address, or telephone number etc. this will help ensure that hospitals have the correct details when sending out for appointments. Please note that the Practice operates a zero tolerance policy on the abuse of staff, any patient who abuses the reception staff will be removed from our patient list.

The district nursing team provide skilled nursing care in the patient’s own home and advise carers. They assess needs, give information

and offer counselling. They also carry out appropriate nursing care.

The practice does not have an attached health visitor, all queries relating to any aspects of family or child health care should be made to the Health Visiting Department at the Carlisle Centre Tel: 02895042500.

Community Psychiatric Nurses

The CPN team is responsible for caring for patient’s mental illness within the community and for following up patients discharged from hospital suffering from mental illness, e.g. depression, schizophrenia.                        

Dietician

A dietician gives dietary and nutritional advice to patients with special health needs. Referrals are arranged by the doctors.

Speech Therapist

The speech therapist deals with delayed language in children and speech problems associated with illnesses e.g. after strokes. Referral is arranged by the doctor or health visitor. Referrals can also be made, where appropriate to social workers.
